What's New

Please join friends old and new for another afternoon at the Women's Wellness Group.  Our next meeting will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2008 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.  We will meet at The Cathedral Church of St. Thomas the Apostle.  Address: 147 W. 144th Street, New York, NY 10030.  For more information, click on the title.

The 10th milestone of NWY’s existence proved to be a defining one—one that encountered many challenges as well as successes.  Board members and stakeholders have had several meetings to discuss the way forward for NWY.  Through the support of a scholarship from Community Resource Exchange (funded by NY Foundation), Board members have been able to articulate a new vision for Nah We Yone’s future.

Effective July 1, 2007, Nah We Yone will become a volunteer-driven organization with a web-based office (http://www.nahweyone.org).   Four programs will form the core of Nah We Yone’s services.  They include: i) brunches combined with a general meeting, ii) detention center services, iii) women’s wellness group, and iv) Camp de Fambul.

We are encouraged and excited at the responses received from stakeholders who are committed to our new vision.  CRE has given us the tools to move forward in a different and progressive direction.  It’s up to us all to utilize these tools to better the lives of refugees and asylum seekers in the NY metropolitan area.

Peace and Blessings.
